Early March, 2024.
A delegation of the Verein zur Föderung des Friedens (Association for the Furtherance of Peace), known colloquially as the Flamme des Friedens (Flame of Peace), was despatched to Cyprus to establish in-person contacts with government officials and ecclesiastical figures.
The Flame of Peace is an international humanitarian aid NGO, which works to promote peace worldwide, particularly through the distribution of practical humanitarian measures in areas of tension. The charity also works to place monuments to peace in areas which are or have historically been divided by conflict.
The delegation to Cyprus included the President and Vice President of the Organisation, respectively, Herta Margerete and Sandor von Habsburg-Lothringen, Archduchess and Archduke of Austria & Princess and Prince of Tuscany, James de Balliol-Cavendish, 32nd Baron of Buittle, Protodeacon Andrew Charalambous, his wife Denislava and his young daughter.
The delegation met with several officials and Churchmen on the island, and visited the UN controlled neutral zone between Greek and Turkish Cyprus where it is planned that a monument to peace will be placed in June.
